Based on your research, you’ve already developed that baseline compensation level that you will need to earn. If the offered salary is coming up short, then you might have to walk away. Other opportunities will emerge and may be a better fit for your experience level. If the employer knows that you’re willing to accept their original offer, why should they give you a higher amount? The key is to remain level headed and know your baseline. Often an employer will increase an offer, only after you’ve decided to walk away.
Remember: there are other fish in the sea.
