Before retiring, I transitioned from full-time work to PRN. This is an approach that I think a lot of therapists take in order to ease out of the field. It can be difficult, because life is slowing down and you no longer have the desire or necessity to work full-time, but you still love the profession. So I think PRN provides a great opportunity to transition well.
After a certain point in the field, you sort of know how to listen to your mind and body and allow them to be your guides. You want to be fully present for your patients, and if you've got physical pain or you're not entirely present mentally, it may be time to scale back.
